Day 1                                            Derby, Windjana Gorge,Tunnel Creek

Fitzroy River Lodge (L)

Departing Broome at 7.00am with a pick up from your accommodation this morning we’ll travel through the remote and beautiful landscape of the Western Kimberley, learning of local history, people and the environment crossing the Fitzroy River and visiting the famous Prison Boab Tree. We arrive in the township of Derby located on the tidal mud flats on the edge of the King Sound known for having the highest tidal range of any port in Australia prior to beginning our journey on the remote cattle track, the Gibb River Road. A short stop at the wonderful Mowanjum Aboriginal Art & Cultural Centre introduces us to the Wandjina & Gwion Gwion spirits, so important in this region. We continue our travels towards the Napier Range, once a Devonian reef these escarpments are over 350 million years old and home to a diverse array of animals and plants. The perfect place to experience the stunning natural beauty of an
outback oasis is the 3.5km geological wonder of Windjana Gorge and then exploring Tunnel Creek, a 750-metre cave system carved through the Range, in which we discover stalactites, secret caves and a variety of wildlife. It is here we also learn the legend of Jandamarra, an Aboriginal freedom fighter who used the tunnel as a hide out in the late 1800's. As the sun sets we journey through the Oscar Ranges and groves of majestic Boab trees before arriving at our comfortable accommodation on the banks of the Fitzroy River.

Day 2                                            Giekie Gorge Cruise, Halls Creek

 Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge (B,D)

An early departure takes us via Geikie Gorge National Park where we explore the magnificent Darngku by boat. Nature carved this spectacular 30m deep gorge between the Geikie and Oscar Ranges during the Devonian geological period. The best way to experience the scenery and abundant wildlife of this natural wonder is to join the Geikie Gorge ranger-guided cruise.
Geikie Gorge floods during the wet season, with the swirling water leaving its bleached mark on the colourful gorge walls. Though the water retreats during the dry season, permanent water remains to sustain the wide variety of Kimberley wildlife.
This morning we depart Fitzroy Crossing, breaking the journey to the Bungle Bungles with a visit to the gold rush town of Halls Creek. We then leave the main highway to venture into Purnululu National Park by way of the 4WD Spring Creek Track where late afternoon we arrive at the award winning Bungle Bungles Wilderness Lodge, our home for the next 2 nights.

Day 3                                            Cathedral Gorge, Optional Helicopter Flight

 Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge (B,L,D)

We have ample time to explore this extraordinary World Heritage protected Purnululu National Park, the most famous of which, are the Bungle
Bungle domes. Rivers created this landscape of unique orange and black striped 'beehive' geological formations over a period of 20 million years. Unbelievably, only the locals knew it existed until the early 1980's; once discovered by others, the area was made a national park in 1987. We take a walk 2-3km) along Picanniny Creek to the look out and then into stunning Cathedral Gorge, where towering rocks create a natural amphitheatre.
This afternoon we have the option of an inspiring helicopter scenic flight over the Bungle Bungles (from $395.00 per person own expense) that will surely be a highlight of your trip. This evening view a sensational sunset enjoying drinks & nibbles.

Day 4                                            Echidna Chasm, Scenic Flight

Tour Concludes Kununurra (B,L)

This morning we head to the northern extremity of the park where we explore Echidna Chasm (2km walk), known for its towering Livistonia Palm trees. A walk up the creek bed is rewarded with bird’s eye views of the shaded escarpment where we learnt how the chasm received its name from an Aboriginal dreamtime story. For the energetic there may also be the possibility of an
extended walk through the bloodwoods around the base of the massif. After a picnic lunch we return to the Bungles airstrip where you join your afternoon scenic flight over the Argyle Diamond Mine landing in the vibrant East Kimberley town of Kununurra.
Note that luggage weight & size restrictions will occur on this transfer flight with a maximum of 10kg per person in a soft sided bag (eg: duffel bag)
